National Standards for Disability Services
Overview
The National Standards for Disability Services are currently being reviewed. As part of this process, public consultations are occurring across Australia. The Office for Disability and Client Services is leading the work on the South Australian consultation.
Why we are consulting
The consultation process is an opportunity for all South Australians to have a say about the way in which disability services should be provided and how they can achieve better outcomes for people with disability.
People with disabilities, their families, carers, advocates, representative groups, service providers and the wider community are encouraged to participate.
Detailed information regarding the consultation process is available on a national website, including a discussion paper (which is also available in an ‘easy read’ version) which can be accessed: here.
In South Australia there are two main ways to provide feedback on the National Standards:
1. Online survey
Individuals can complete an online survey at the national website. Throughout the consultation period, access to computers and assistance in using them will be available to people wanting to complete the online survey at DIRC, 195 Gilles St, Adelaide. DIRC can also be contacted by phone on ph: 8236 0555, TTY is 8223 7579 or ph: 1300 305 558 for country callers.
2. Written Submissions
Written submissions can be made in electronic format via the national website or submitted in hardcopy. This is the preferred method for organisations or community groups wanting to provide feedback, although individuals are also welcome to consider using this option.
