Review of SA Carers Recognition Act
Overview
Section 9 of the SA Carers Recognition Act 2005 requires a review of the operation and effectiveness of the Act to be undertaken five years after commencement.
The Office for Carers will conduct the review with guidance from an advisory committee of representatives from carer support services, SA government departments and other sector experts.
Share your views online by completing a survey - there is one for carers and interested persons, and another for government organisations and service providers. The surveys and other information are available on www.sa.gov.au.
Or you can attend one of the consultation sessions for carers, service providers and government agencies being held in several regions. For more information, phone the local carer support service at:

Why we are consulting
The review is an opportunity to think about whether the Act is achieving what was intended and to consider what is needed to strengthen the Act to better benefit carers.
What happens next
At the conclusion of the consultation a report to the Hon Jennifer Rankine MP, Minister for Families and Communities will be tabled in both houses of Parliament by the end of December 2011.
Subsequently, the Act may be refined to reflect community feedback.
