South Australian Disability Register

Overview

In January 2011 a discussion paper (Consumer Engagement Strategy for Disability) was circulated by the Department for Families and Communities (DFC) presenting options for a model of engagement for disability.

Feedback to the discussion paper recommended the adaptation of a disability register to more effectively engage the community.

The proposed DFC SA Disability Register will be a contact list of persons who have
nominated to provide independent advice on broad issues concerning disability

Why we are consulting

The aim of the proposed South Australian Disability Register is to create a central resource of feedback for policy makers.

Members of the Disability Register will participate through the use of surveys, focus groups and a subsequent online facility to:

  • Inform the development of Disability policy.
  • Report to Ministerial Disability Advisory Council (MDAC) to develop policy recommendations to the Minister for Disability

A pilot phase of The Disability Register is now open. Registration is sought from people living with disability, their families, opinion leaders and 'interested' individuals and agencies across the community.
